Penryn offers a warm and welcoming community full of diverse skills and creativity. These are the groups that really help shape our town. Many are volunteers and give up their time because they believe our town is worth it. To these great people – THANK YOU!

incredible_edible_penrynIncredible Edible Penryn is a community project that encourages local residents and business owners to grow their own vegetables. They are then encouraged to share the produce and stimulate a source and buy locally principle.

But you aren’t restricted to any one garden. Window boxes, public spaces and hanging baskets can all be employed for the project.

Based on the very successful, ‘Incredible Edible Todmorden‘,  now a thriving community business, the Penryn based project aims to promote shared responsibility for sustainability while promoting the town in a positive way.

glasney_greenspace_regeneration_projectThe Glasney Greenspace Regeneration Project is a local residents group created to support the regeneration of the Glasney Playing Field & BMX Track, (incorporating the Valley Walk).  This is one of the towns oldest areas that is steeped in history and a beautiful area to work on regeneration.

Collectively run, the ISA is an active forum for critical discussion.  It was founded on the principle of free thinking against the backdrop of rising tuition fees for universities. The lecture series has evolved through people’s enthusiasm for sharing their work and all are welcome.

Regular talks tale place on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm in St. Gluvias Church Hall



foodbank_penryn_cornwallFoodbanks offer a lifeline to those in times of emergency and crisis. By offering nutritional meals and advice on relevant support agencies. You can help by volunteering your time to assist with tasks such as collecting, packing and fundraising. Or you may wish to donate food or financial support to the project.

penryn_arts_festival_2013The Penryn Arts Festival has been established to showcase the wealth of creativity in and around Penryn. A multitude of exhibitions, events, movies, food and drink will be staged over 3 days in 2014 18th – 21st July.

This is an epic project and more hands are needed to bring the festival to its full potential.

visit_penryn_treasures_charity_shopThe Penryn Treasures Charity shop believes that all the money raised in the community should benefit the community. Money raised through sales at the shop are offered back to those in financial difficulty due to poverty, sickness and/or disability. Community groups may also receive grants from this great shop.

332-womens_institute1Penryn’s Womens Institute has offered invaluable support to the Town for many years particularly during times of distress.Meeting twice monthly on the 1st and 3rd week, the WI are a warm a welcoming group of women.

visit_penryn_camera_clubPenryn Camera Club has been running for 30 years and welcome both amateur and professional photographer members. A number of events, workshops, talks and competitions are held throughout the year. Camera club members are quite often found documenting some of the great events that take place in town, including Penryn Week and Penryn Arts Festival.



Helping Hands CIC – The purpose  of  Helping Hands is to help break down the barriers of finance and both physical and mental health problems, which can restrict those affected from being able to maintain their homes and gardens.

Providing a friendly caring handyman service to those most at need. This can be anything from an irritating light bulb, hanging curtains to larger jobs such as moving home house, clearance and painting and decorating.

It would also cover gardening such as lawn mowing and general day to day garden maintenance.

It’s been started by local people interested in whether talking with each other more will benefit our community.
