Penryn Christmas Lights Volunteer Awarded

For fifteen years Michael Moore and his small army of volunteers have dedicated long hours during the festive season to ensure Penryn is one of the most beautiful towns in Cornwall each Christmas. Come rain, hail, wind or shine, Michael and his team can be be found up a ladder, wrestling a Christmas tree and overseeing every last bauble, making sure when the switch is flicked the streets are filled with magic.

Now Michael has been officially recognised for his hard work with a Cornwall Civic Award presented by Chairman, Councillor Ann Kerridge over a cream tea at County Hall in Truro. Michael was nominated by Councillor Mary May who said,  “our streets at Christmas time would be a dull place if Michael didn’t go the extra mile for our town and he is incredibly worthy of this award.”

The Cornwall Civic Award recognises local unsung hero’s who give many hours volunteering and doing amazing things in their communities across the Duchy.

Thank you Michael Moore and team we agree, you do make Penryn a truly magical town at Christmas!
